Ink. Permanency. Irreversibility. Thinking before you create or the alternative: letting mistakes become a part of the process. Ink represents life to me. I feel there is great beauty in experiencing what exists now, accepting what is already drying on the paper and discovering what is about to be created. For me, ink means I'd rather live a life of "oh wells" than "what ifs".
I feel the same way about my job as a sports photographer. The truth is, when you shoot fast sports like I do...hockey, speed skating, bobsledders I don't care how good you are or how great your equipment is...this is what you get: crap crap crap crap GEM crap crap crap crap. And isn't that how anything worth doing always is? You're going to screw up 90% of the time. But it's worth it, for that one great shot.
