Comin' Outta My Ears

My "Unamas" (being Spanish for "one more") sea-dragons. Copyright me, please. They give birth by holding their nose and blowing the babies out their ears.

You may be wondering why a sea-dragon giving birth via its ears is in the "Express It!" contest. [link] I had various things I was going to do for this contest, but this is the one that just happened and it's so fitting because that's what this contest is about...expressing it. If you haven't entered yet, do it, just remember...strictly traditional media.

1. I've been under tremendous stress the last 36 hours. That is sort of how I felt. I was just sitting in my bed with my head in my hands crying until I laughed. Why did I laugh? Because I saw that sea-dragon in my mind. I felt like I had zaniness up to my ears and that eventually it was all going to come spewing out like steam. So instead of me blowing steam out my ears...it's freakin' adorable sea-dragon babies....ala 1pen Syle!!!

2. Despite the stress, I take great pride in my ability to end up laughing after all the crying, to see something funny in what doesn't quite feel funny. This sort of expresses that...humor for me. It made me feel good again for a little bit.

3. It's colorful. For all my colorful language and because life itself is.

I hope you guys enjoy. This was a stretch for me. A bit cartoonish and the color....but it was fun, it was what I wanted and needed to get out.

Prismacolor markers on bristol. Slight black border in photoshop, but only to enhance the black border that I had done in marker along the edge. It didn't scan quite right.
