Please FULL-VIEW. dA compresses images which causes some photos to appear soft and blurry in preview.

So for the April Appreciation month being held by #deviantHEART, we're supposed to upload something we appreciate in our lives every day for the month of April.

My appreciation for the day? A Golden Goalie.

I haven't uploaded one from the Black series in a long while. Engy was one of the Golden Goalies for the league's fantasy team this past season and here he is in the commemorative jersey. Had to do special shot of it. There was no way he was leaving the building that night until I did.

Everybody loves a goalie, but to a hockey photographer they are comrades in the corner. I often shoot corner and over a season, goalies and the photographers who share that end of the rink with them...well, bond, you might say. :)

that is such an amazing black and white photo.... everyhing works so well here. Best hockey b/w photography I've ever seen... tones, ambiance, contrast, scene, all works so well mate. stunning !

For me it is a perfect B&W picture. Absolutely the right choice not to show it in color. The light so perfect, unbelievable. The contrasts are awesome! Congratulation. :wow:

Thanks so much, Stefan, I really appreciate the feedback and always love hearing from you. I've done several monochrome portraits of this team, trying to figure out just the right settings, angle, etc., and this is still my favourite one. It was one of those moments where the stars lined up to give me a good one. Haven't had as much luck since though. It must have been that lucky golden jersey. :giggle:
