DD Suggestions Guidelines
* Send me the link or the thumbcode of the deviation you want to suggest via note.
* I can only feature from the Photojournalism category.
* Remember a deviant can't receive more than 1 DD every six months, so help me by making sure the author of the work you're suggesting hasn't received a DD in the last half a year.

A few notes on what I will accept:
They don't have to look straight out of National Geographic or AP (though I will totally accept suggestions that fall into that space as well). I'm looking for a story told in a technically good and creative manner and I'm fairly open-minded about what that can mean. Some may look at a selected DDs and wonder how a few qualify as Photojournalism, but frequently those shots belong to a larger body of documentary work that complements and expands upon the photograph you're viewing. So if you ever wonder about how one fits into the category, I encourage you to check out that deviant's gallery.
I prefer to evaluate DD suggestions on a sliding scale/spectrum: I'm willing to give an inch or two if the image is newsworthy or unique enough, etc. I'm not opposed to minor edits and some artificial lighting (many documentary and sports settings utilize this), but I will not accept photographs with heavy editing. Think of it like literature: I'm not against proofreading, but I have to reject major overhauls that completely change the reality of the story. Journalism is classified as nonfiction, and there's only so much you're allowed to edit before the story you tell just isn't true anymore.
If I've decided not to feature a DD suggestion it's usually for one of these reasons:
* heavy edit/manipulation
* the photograph isn't theirs
* the photograph is older. (I'm not opposed to featuring older deviations, but I will always give priority to newer photographs)
* the deviant is no longer active on deviantART
* the deviation isn't photojournalism or a cross-category into photojournalism
* the deviation is technically or creatively weak
I'm not perfect in my assessments. No one is. It's always possible that I may miss certain details that ought to qualify/disqualify an image. I'm still new to this position and the balancing act that is managing this and my life simultaneously, so please don't be discouraged if you don't see a deviation you've suggested show up on the feature page or if you disagree with a selection I've made. I can't do this on my own. So a huge thank you to all of the suggesters who brave the wilds of the photojournalism category on deviantART searching for the next feature alongside me. Thar be some very scary monsters out there in that jungle, and you guys are awesome for charging into it with me with cameras held high. Never ever doubt that you are appreciated by me 100%.
