Fall Trials 02

Landon Hatfield is chased by the rest of the field during Day Two of the US Speed Skating Short Track Single Distance Championships, or "Fall Trials" at Utah's Olympic Oval.

I just love this shot. I remember taking it and going "Yay, I captured it just the way I wanted it." Speed skating is so unpredictable with falls and just general insanity that you never really know what you're going to get, so when you see a great shot being set up a few seconds earlier and a few seconds later it actually turns out that way? Coolness.

These races are important to the athletes as they are used in determining the twelve (six men, six women) skaters who will be placed on the United States World Team for this year, the final prep season before the 2014 Winter Olympics and an important step toward making the future Olympic team.
